Ingredients

Flank steak or steak of your choice

The best mashed potato

  • 1 bag of mashed potatoes
  • 125 gr de fromage en grain
  • 125 ml crème 10 %
  • 1 green onion

Panzanella Salad

  • Crouton
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 3 ripe red tomatoes, cut into cubes or wedges
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) olives
  • 10 ml (2 tsp) capers, chopped
  • 1/2 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) fresh basil, chopped
  • 45 ml (3 tbsp) olive oil
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, mix the salad ingredients, break the croutons, and add them to the salad just before serving.
  2. Heat the mashed potatoes and mix in the ingredients, reheating in the microwave if needed.

Beer and food pairing

I recommend a light Porter or Stout beer. These dark beers, with notes of coffee and chocolate, add depth to the grilled flavors of the steak. They pair excellently with the creamy texture of the mashed potatoes without overpowering the panzanella salad.
